Roman Missal Third Edition Peoples’ Prayers

“Behold, I make all things new.  Write these words down, for they are trustworthy and true.”  Those words from the Book of Revelation 21:5 were not written with reference to the new translation of Mass prayers and responses we will begin using on the First Sunday of Advent, Nov. 27, 2011, but they do apply nicely since the new translation is truer to the official Latin text.  The last new wording, now so familiar to us, came when the Mass changed from Latin to English in the 1970′s.  We’ve gotten used to those words, so used to them that we, at times, might say them without even thinking about what they mean . . . and there’s a plus for the change to new wording.  It gives us an opportunity to reconsider just what we do at Mass and be more attentive to both the words and the actions of our Sunday liturgy.  Click on the link below to see new people’s prayers and responses.
